Frontiers of Psychedelic Research in Medicine and Spiritual Development

“Frontiers of Psychedelic Research in Medicine and Spiritual Development”

Talk by William Richards, clinical director of the States of Consciousness Research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. The talk will be followed by a community discussion/dialogue facilitated by Dr. Richards.

Bill Richards is a psychologist at Johns Hopkins Medicine who has been involved in legal research with psychedelic substances and human volunteers for many years, beginning in Germany in 1963. His experience includes psychotherapy research with LSD, DPT, MDA, and psilocybin, including protocols designed to investigate the promise of entheogens in the treatment of alcoholism, severe neuroses, narcotic addiction, and the psychological distress associated with terminal cancer, as well as their use in the training of religious and mental-health professionals. Bill's book Sacred Knowledge: Psychedelics and Religious Experiences (http://cup.columbia.edu/book/sacred-knowledge/9780231174060) has just been released. Join us for a stimulating conversation!
