Professional art handlers in museums and galleries work hard to display the art of others. The majority of art handlers are artists themselves. Some are actively making and showing work, trying to make their mark in the art world. Some have left their creative practice untouched for a long time, or even given it up entirely, for reasons such as time, money, and the difficult and arbitrary selection of who ‘makes it’ in the visual arts.

The art handler art show aims to create a fun space for art handlers to share their own art, and to see the art of their colleagues, while directly and indirectly providing insight into art museums and the people who make them function.
