Friday October 22 * 7pm * outside at Rhizome * masks required * TICKETS

Salmon Graveyard is the latest iteration of an ongoing musical project by Corey Thuro which has been described as “free country.” The project comprises, on the one hand, a sympathetic response to 20th century avant-garde syntheses of American folk music with drones, repetition, electrified instrumentation, and “extended techniques”; and on the other hand seeks to honor the desire for highly subjective free-improvisation. The trio will perform two pieces, each an attempt to play in one of the former spaces. Thuro—electrified mandolin—will be joined by John Hoegberg on bass guitar, Jonah Giuliano on drums, and a pre-recorded track by Joshua Wismans.

Tom Boram aka Tom Borax is a Baltimore-born musician and multimedia artist. He is a founder of the High Zero Festival of Improvised and Experimental Music and has been active in free improvisation, noise, and electronic music scenes for 25 years. His current focus is microtonal improvisation and electro-acoustic composition utilizing the harpsichord.
