Comics & Illustration Workshop - Strength of Character

This workshop is focused on character development as a crucial element to the storytelling process in comics and illustration. Over the course of 3 sessions, participants will explore resources provided by the instructor and build their own characters through surrealist exercises such as exquisite corpse. The goal is to have each student create a fully-realized character, build storytelling skills and produce a short 3-5 page mini-comic featuring their character. While studio time is included in the course, students should be comfortable enough with their drawing skills to complete in-class and out-of-class assignments. Materials list will be provided upon registration.

Instructor: Adam Griffiths is a cartoonist, illustrator and animator, living in Takoma Park, MD. His paintings, drawings, and videos have been exhibited throughout the DMV region.
