Students may bring lunch and combine morning and afternoon camps for a full day, 9-4pm.
A week-long camp devoted to exploring sound in fun and creative ways. Participants will design and build sound-producing machines and sculptures using wire, wood, and motors; collaborate on a junk sound sculpture; generally have fun learning about, listening to, playing, and recording sound. Campers will also gain experience with drills, saws, hammers, and other basic hand tools.

Layne Garrett is an improvising musician, instrument builder, educator, and parent based in Takoma DC. He has been building and playing instruments of his own design for over 10 years. He has taught instrument building classes, camps, and workshops at Bethesda KID Museum, Rhizome DC, FutureMakers, Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, Capital City Public Charter School, and Thornton Friends School.
