Rhizome Benefit Concert: Alexander, Mt Rainier, Nate Scheible / Ashley Shey

Second of two weekend benefit shows to help support Rhizome.. come out again and help keep us going!

ALEXANDER (aka David Shapiro) is still young but he’s been an active force on the experimental music scene for some years now. In addition to projects such as Lituya Bay (Shapiro’s solo electric guitar wanderings) and Nagual (his collaboration with Ian McColm),  Shapiro improvises and writes solo acoustic guitar numbers for fans of Fahey, Connors, and Rose. Balancing equal parts Americana, blues, jazz, and avant-garde, and always maintaining the intimate qualities of home recording.

MT RAINIER - Mt. Rainier is the solo project of D.C. musician Matt Cohen, who plays in the drone duo Literals. Using a minimal set-up, Mt. Rainier is an exploration of delicate, western-tinged drone and field recordings. It’s a sound inspired by the latter-day experimentalism and sound collages of John Fahey and the simple, dusty melodies of Bruce Langhorne.

NATE SCHEIBLE & ASHLEY SHEY - Damaged tape loops and ritualistic performance.
